The West Lancashire Golf Club was founded in 1873 and is among the ten oldest golf clubs in England.
It boasts one of the most natural and testing links in the British Isles, of which Donald Steel wrote “Only in Britain can one savour the true flavour of seaside golf, of which West Lancashire is a perfect example”.
West Lancashire Golf Club is a championship links. The ladies Section celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2016 & the club itself is fast approaching its 150th anniversary to be celebrated in 2023.
The number of 7 day Full Playing Members is restricted, but there are additional categories of membership that suit everyone.
West Lancashire has one of the smallest memberships in the area and this ensures that members have access to the course at all times.
The club has a full programme of matches, competitions and social events. In fact, these are well supported and form an important part of the golfing calendar and in generating a ‘club’ atmosphere.
The clubhouse has all the expected facilities. Food is available in either formal or informal surroundings.
West Lancashire is a fine championship course providing a challenge to golfers of all abilities. There are also excellent practice and coaching facilities. The Professional, Gavin Abson, and his team are well respected golf coaches, who are involved in teaching at the highest level.
Membership is usually through introduction by two existing members. However, if you do not know anyone who is a member and would like to know more, please contact the Golf Manager.
