The World Gravy Wrestling Championships is without a doubt one of the world’s craziest culinary competitions!
A wild and whacky wrestling competition in a pool full of Lancashire Gravy!
Each Bank Holiday Monday at the end of August you will find people clambering to wrestle in our lovely Lancashire Gravy for the World Title of Gravy Wrestling Champion.They come from all across the Uk to take part in this whacky event.
Contestants must wrestle in the Gravy for 2minutes whilst being scored for audience applause, and various different moves, all this while in fancy dress! Gravy Wrestling is now in its 5th Year and based on having fun…although there is serious competitive streak among most competitors
The Gravy Wrestling Championships take place every year at the Rose n Bowl Pub in Stacksteads (264 Newchurch Road Bacup, Rossendale, Lancashire OL13 0UG)
We have Male and Female competitors battling it out to be crowned World Gravy Wrestling Champion.
The day raises much needed funds for the East Lancs Hospice so everyones a Winner.
Food is available on the day along with an outside bar.This is definitely not an event to be missed and attracts media coverage from around the globe.
Showers are provided for the participants along with the local Fire Brigade who are on hand to hose you down after your stint in the Gravy.
