Yarrow Valley Country Park

Yarrow Valley Country Park is a lovely park located near to Chorley which follows the River Yarrow for about 6 miles.

In fact, it contains much woodland and includes nature reserves, best known being Birkacre and Duxbury Woods. Parts of the park are reclaimed collieries and other old industrial sites.

There’s lots to see and fo here. Indeed, there is a a visitor centre, the Treeface Café, an adventure play area and over 700 acres to explore. In addition, there’s plenty of space to stretch your legs with a few hours walking along the tranquil woodland pathways.

Highlights include Duxbury Woods, Big Wood and Copperworks Wood. Also, explore the riot of wildflower colour that grows in Lower Burgh Meadow in the summer months. Additionally the magnificent Big Lodge, which is a venue for fishing and canoeing as well as the home of many swans, geese and ducks.

Visitors might also appreciate the delights of the Small Lodge, Top Lodge and the Weir. Here features a fish ladder to the side, a purpose built viewing platform and is at its spectacular best following periods of heavy rain.
