Opened in 1897, the Morecambe Winter Gardens theatre is a magnificent example of Victorian architecture in Morecambe.
Indeed, it stands proud on Morecambe seafront. Additionally, it is a Grade II listed building.
The theatre has played host to many stars of stage and screen. Once you enter into the foyer you will see the grand marble staircases. Then, there is the upper level of the dress circle and finally, the ballroom.
In their heyday, these buildings could have accommodated over 7000 people, including 2000 dancers. Open for events and guided tours, the building is operated and run by a Trust and volunteers.
In fact, their aim is to restore the building and make it a usable space for generations to come.
